Saturday, we put a 2.5″ AEV lift on Skip’s 4 door Rubicon. Sunday, we went to Spring Creek, which is right outside of Dumont, Co. This was a really nice trail with some skinny shelf road mixed in with big rocks, mixed in with trees and old mine shafts. Caleb came with me and was my comms officer for the day as well as designated documenter (He got to take the pictures). The pucker factor was about a 5.5 out of 10 with spikes to 7 or 8 in some places. We had to turn around after the old mine shaft and shortly before the 2nd obstacle due to packed snow and the sheer steepness of the trail.  This is one I will DEFINITELY go back to in the summer.tabletbg

This past weekend, our life group got together and went hiking. Kind of fitting since the Life Group’s name is life hike. It was a great time of treasure hunting for the kids, fellowship for the adults, and a chance to breath fresh air and admire God’s handy work in nature for all.Treasure Hunting at Ute Valley Park

The weather was a bit windy at times, but overall, a beautiful day to be outside. After all the talking, walking, and enjoying nature, we went back to Randy & Kim’s for lunch. It was really cool to see the girls sitting around talking after lunch while the kids played in the back yard and the men went to play in the front yard. It was just a really great time of fellowship. lhgroup1

I wanted to go Jeeping today, so I posted on wranglerforum.com that I was going, to see if anyone wanted to come along. I got two responses, and we decided on a trail that was convenient for everyone. Lucky for me, it was one I had not been on yet: Left Hand Canyon (FSR 286) just outside of the Peoples Republic of Boulder. (Its called that because of the ridiculous laws, I was told today that farmers that raise cattle in Boulder are charged a “Methane” tax, because their cows produce methane that pollutes the air.)

We had a really good day! I saw some beautiful scenery, met some folks, and got to climb some rocks in my Jeep! I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

I wasted no time in getting the new Jeep out on the trails. We took Saturday afternoon to explore the Rampart Range rd, coming down Mt. Herman rd to go home. We originally wanted to run Schubarth rd, but it was closed due to the Waldo Canyon Fire from this past summer.[singlepic id=217 w=320 h=240 float=right]

The Jeep did great, but is way different than the TJ. Its wider, the engine is not as “torquey” as the inline 6 was in the TJ, and the suspension is SO much softer.

The views were pretty nice, but nothing like the views from Sunday’s trip up Gold Camp rd. The views of Colorado Springs and the toll road on Pikes Peak were very impressive. This is a “must do” road when visitors come – its a well maintained road with off shoots if you want to do some more serious wheeling. Be sure and check out the pictures on the PHOTO page.[singlepic id=226 w=320 h=240 float=left]

Robin and I took the Miata up Pikes Peak yesterday. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear. I am just going to post some of the pictures we took and let them speak for themselves.
